Recently, some unexpected events occurred that gave the campaign and our family a minor set-back. To give you some history, during the legislative session I experienced back pain after helping move some furniture for my Mother. Immediately after the session ended, I had out-patient surgery to remove a piece of disc that was pressing on my spinal cord. Two months later I had hip replacement surgery and seemed to be recovering well. On June 6, however, I fainted, quit breathing and was rushed to the hospital. After extensive tests, they discovered I had a congenital defect in my aortic valve which needed to be replaced. Fortunately, I did not have heart disease which would have required by-pass surgery. I am blessed that I did not sustain any permanent heart or brain damage. My wife might argue with that… After a short recovery, I am “back in the saddle again”. My family says I am “the Bionic Man” new and improved.
Thank you for your support over the past months. Financial support is crucial in a campaign, but the prayers and support that have been given is a unique gift that truly blessed our family. Life is uncertain and often messy but walking through it with the support of others makes it worthwhile!
This election is exciting and rigorous as one Democrat and two Republicans have filed for the 20th district Senate seat which I presently hold. I am pleased with the strength of the campaign. And look forward to the opportunity to serve you in the coming session.
Sincerely,
Dan Swecker
