National Federation of Independent Business in Washington State Awards Senator Swecker with the Guardian of Small Business Award
The NFIB is the largest small business association in the state representing small business owners with an average of five employees. Recently, Senator Swecker was given the Guardian of Small Business award.
"This award is our way of thanking you for the hard work you've done on behalf of the issues that help preserve and protect the free enterprise system in our state. Over the past two years, we have faced several challenges and scored some significant legislative victories, all of which are outlined in our 2008 NFIB/WA Voting Record. Legislators needed to have a voting record of 90 percent or higher over the last two sessions to receive this award. Your personal record of 100 percent illustrates your consistent and enthusiastic support of small businesses in Washington State. We have been presenting these awards for over 20 years. We hope you are as proud of receiving it as we are giving it to you."
"After being a small business owner for much of my life, it is particularly rewarding to be recognized for my efforts on their behalf," said Swecker.

Business association praises lawmakers
LACEY - The National Federation of Independent Business has singled out a few South Sound lawmakers for its Washington Guardian of Small Business awards.
Recipients had a voting record that nearly always was in line with the conservative group's state legislative agenda in 2007-08. Those with 100 percent voting records included Democratic Sen. Tim Sheldon of Potlatch, Republican Sen. Dan Swecker of Rochester, and Republican Reps. Gary Alexander of Thurston County and Richard DeBolt of Chehalis. Among those singled out with 90 percent voting records were Republican Rep. Jim McCune of Graham.
NFIB said in a news release that its awards show a lawmaker "put the care and feeding of the nation's mom-and-pop enterprises ahead of those of giant corporations, big business, big labor and big government."
